This happen to my PC over at work. The network seems fine. It’s kinda weird to me as the DHCP does not assign any IP to my PC but i can browse files over network. Tested, it really allowed me to copy, move, execute data over network.
I tried to see my IP configuration thru ipconfig. Nil, zero and no IP. Again, frustratingly tried to ping my gateway. It came out with an error message. This is the keyword that brought me to solution. “IP Driver Error Code 2″
First page Google result brought me to Microsoft’s KBase. “How to remove and reinstall TCP/IP on a Windows Server 2003 domain controller“. This is the summary and happened to led me to tears of joy.
I skip the first 4 steps as is irrelevant to me. I’m using XP by the way. The remaining resolution worked like a charm.
