Resolving MAC address

Sometimes to configure certain types of router you need MAC(physical) address. A friend of mine asked earlier today how to retrieve the physical address.

There are a numbers of known steps. The most common it to check the Local Connection Status by double clicking the network icon on system tray. Click on support tab and click details.

Local Connection Status

The same result can be obtain using command prompt. Fire up your command prompt (type cmd in run panel). Type ipconfig/all.All details related to your network configuration can be seen here.

ipconfig/all

However this solutions doesn’t apply to my friends situation. She said that her laptop not even plugged to a network! After a while going thru control panel, suddenly i remembered another way to get MAC address.

This can be done by opening Control Panel>Network Connections>Local Connection’s properties. If you prefer you can click properties from the dialog box you opened before (local connection status). Just put your mouse pointer over the adapter name. There you go.

Local Connection Properties

People who does read this, happen to read these as well.
